Rocky Mountain High

After I landed in Denver I left the airport. I was driving towards the foothills scanning the radio and guess what song came on!

"Rocky Mountain High" by John Denver.

I thought to myself, how appropriate is this?

After a while the song ended. Then it started again.

I wasn't sure it was the same song because I thought,

why would they play it twice?

But sure enough it was the SAME song!
Twice in a row-on the radio, same station.

Because this was my first trip back to Colorado, this seemed really strange.

"Rocky Mountain High", what was the universe trying to tell me?

I'll admit hearing this song at first was cool.

The second time it was strange.

But Imagine my shock when it came on AGAIN!

YES, AGAIN!

THREE TIMES in a row!!! "Rocky Mountain High"-same station!!!

I was starting to feel high,

After the song started playing the third time I had to change it.

I am sorry John Denver I love that song,

but frankly three times in a row was weirding me out.

However I think it inspired me to take the pictures you have just seen, and for that,
I must say Thank You!

First Time Back

Yesterday morning I left Connecticut.

and flew home to Colorado for a visit.

It was nice and sunny when I arrived in Colorado.
My mother and I went for a drive in the foothills where I grew up.

When I was little every time we would drive past this cave my parents would say "Look for the bear cave Aimee, do you see the bear cave?" I always saw the cave, but I never got to see a bear!

Yesterday we did see deer,

and elk. Who seemed just as fascinated with me as I was with them.

One of my favorite things about Colorado that I tell people to notice is the sky.

I LOVE the sky here it is always changing and it is always amazing!

Hey Mister Turtle!

This past weekend we went for a drive. While driving I noticed this little turtle sun bathing in the middle of the road. I was afraid someone might run him over so we picked him up. He was so cute and he looked really happy to be "rescued".

Then we found a nice patch of grass for the turtle to hang out on. I know it's not always good to interfere with nature, but technically the road isn't natural, and neither are cars!

A Weekend to Remember

Our Memorial Day weekend started with something new for breakfast
I called this creation
Put on your Happy Face
it's a three day Weekend Waffles!

For this you will need:
Frozen Waffles, Berries, and Whipped cream in a can!
Full of antioxidants and sure to please the pickiest of eaters!

After Breakfast we had a delivery, Sawyer's Grandparents recently went to the Cayman Islands,

And they sent Sawyer his very own Stingray, named Raymond.
After welcoming Raymond to the family, we had an organizing extravaganza. My office and closet received their very own make over. This was fun, at first, then after awhile my excitement dwindled.

So we went for a hike. Sawyer had a hard time deciding which shoes to wear on the hike.
When we reached these rocks

I was glad he did not go with the boots.

On our hike we came across many interesting creatures. Like this frog, who at first did not want his picture taken.

After some persistence on my part he posed for me.

This Caterpillar on the other hand, seemed very happy to get her picture taken.

After all that hiking Sawyer Bean needed a lift.

Just when we thought the excitement was over, we saw this turtle. So we stopped for a picture.
I couldn't tell you if he was happy to get his picture taken, he just looked at me as if to say "What the hell are you doing lady?"

So Long Elliott

Last week my cousins had to say goodbye to their dog Elliott.

Everyday my husband emails me a quote,
and on the day of Elliott's passing this was the quote he sent.

"In the end these things matter most: How well did you love? How fully did you love? How deeply did you learn to let go?" -Buddha

Elliott
2003-2008

-Kate, Clay, I am sorry for your loss.
Elliott you will be missed.
Thanks for the joy you brought with you.
May your soul always be blessed.

On a lighter note...

I took my son to the park the other evening.
We went to feed the ducks... and geese.
Note to self and any other parent who is not aware of this:
If you show up after 6:00p.m. even on a Thursday,
the birds have been eating all day and
they had absolutely NO interest in our bread.
“Not Interested lady I don't care how cute your son is.”

Except for this one.
Who was nice enough to convince the others to come over.
“My Pleasure”
So that was fun.
